Three Speed Spotted: Rudge Sports

When I was on my most recent bicycle tour, I passed through Port Townsend, Washington, and stayed with a Warmshowers host. Not only was this host a founder of Bikecentennial (and if you know me, that’s a big deal), but her brother, a former bicycle mechanic, has a lovely Rudge Sports!

This specimen is from 1960 (if I remember correctly.) Nice old Brooks B-72 saddle, a Dynohub (though not currently hooked up to a lamp), and most importantly, it’s a 23-inch frame, which is not as easy to come by. The bike is in good shape, and its owner, Dan, proudly rides it around town.

We hope Dan has many more happy years of riding with his Rudge Sports, and hope he enjoys his SoTS membership!IMG_0591
