Tacoma, city of destiny. Yet, I have never been destined to visit this city at the south end of Puget Sound. I’ve made some cursory explorations over the years, the biggest being the overnight stay Emee and I had here last year.

So, almost two full days in Tacoma has turned out to be the longest amount of time I had ever spent here. Of course, the weather could have been better. Much better. This weekend-plus of travel I am taking happens to be the wettest part of this October, featuring a full-on atmospheric river aimed at us. Oh well.

I decided to take the last morning Sounder from Seattle to Tacoma on Monday October 21st. Sounder is the metro Seattle commuter rail. Up until recently, one could only use it in “commute” direction, but they’ve decided to add “reverse-commute” trains as well. Which came in handy, as I had…
