Emee and I brought three speeds to the beach!
As I’ve stated previously, the Long Beach Peninsula in Washington state has become a favorite destination of Emee and myself: beautiful but fairly quiet, as Portlanders end up hitting the Northwest Oregon coast instead, and a bit too far away for the Seattleites. We tend to hit up the peninsula a few times a year when we want a taste of the Pacific Ocean. We had been out there twice in 2020, once around my birthday in August and then again in October. A trip out that way was due, so we loaded the van and headed west.

Sunday April 11 was the beginning of a full-on “pseudo-summer” week in Portland. Temperatures would hit the mid-70s F (23-25C) by weeks end. This Sunday was pleasant but cooler at 60F/16C. Still, a great day to ride!
Right about now is when I’d do the springtime Three Speed Ride. I haven’t led any rides since pandemic happened last March and don’t intend to do any until we really “round the bend”. But that doesn’t mean that Emee and I can’t have a little three speed fun! We decided to ride to the destination of my last big Three Speed Ride in April 2019–Willamette Falls in Oregon City.
